Periphery 1-10, series, each 8"W x 8"H x 1.5" D, oil paint on gessoed wood panel This series, Periphery 1-10, is representative of my current direction in my painting practice. In this series of paintings, I am working with the idea of human predictive coding, a neurological phenomena that triggers our brains into creating an image from abstract forms and color. I consider the paintings to be highly interactive with the viewer.
Vomeronasal Tale (What Gives Your Intentions Away), oil and acrylic polymer on drafting film, 72" W x 36" H x .005"D The work begins by selectively arranging synesthetic sound forms and colors to create a new environment, place, or dreamscape. This particular painting depicts a visual idea relating the organ involved in detecting pheromones to the “third eye,” a term used in esoteric concept usually held responsible for high intuition.
