April Zanne Johnson has been painting for over twenty years.... "I enjoy the quiet of my studio in the woods on the east coast and get inspiration from New York City and Los Angeles..".
She has recently become interested in showing her paintings. "My paintings are very personal. I work to keep my heart alive".

April's subjects are often include women...." I strive to portray the addictive illness of a beauty obsessed culture. "
April's medium of choice is acrylic paint on wood or canvas...."Acrylic paint dries fast and works with my spontaneous style. I work rather quickly. Some of my recent paintings portray the emotional state of the subject. We know how quickly emotions can change so acrylic suites my style."
"I am fascinated by the human mind and body. Contrast and bold color are as important as the placement of my subjects. I use color to emphasize emotion and organic pattern to create vibration,calm or turbulence. "
April is inspired by many artists and musicians. Some of her favorite art includes work from Masami Teraoka, Egon Schiele, Gustav Klimt, Frida Kahlo to name a few. She has instructed painting and drawing for 15 years and has been involved with numerous grants.
April Zanne Johnson is a graduate of Parson School of Design NYC and recently started a Master of Fine Arts program. Her paintings are on display in various buildings from New York to Los Angeles.
