Painting is a necessity in my life. I have been painting for over twenty-three years. It is an expression of my deepest emotions deriving from reaction to beauty, helplessness, death and dreams. Our culture intrigues me. I tend to feel repelled by the voyeuristic effect of contemporary media . At the same time, I feel the need to observe pop culture media and reflect. I strive to portray the addictive illness of a beauty obsessed culture. My medium of choice is acrylic paint on wood. Acrylic paint dries fast and works with my spontaneous style. I work rather quickly. Some of my recent paintings portray the emotional state of the subject. I am fascinated by the human mind and body. Contrast and bold color are as important as the placement of my subjects. I use color to emphasize emotion and organic pattern to create vibration, calm or turbulence. I am a graduate of Parson School of Design NYC 1994. I have recently started a Master of Fine Arts at AAU in San Francisco California. I plan to continue my life long education as an artist. I have devoted myself entirely to creative expansion. |
